Orange Treo 600 Review

Conclusion

Compared to other non Palm Powered Smartphones it offers enhanced PDA functionality and a huge catalogue of applications. Compared to other networked Palm Powered devices it offers a level of integration that cannot be matched. When you need the Treo 600 to be a phone it is a phone, when you need it to be a PDA it is a PDA. Previous products have all been a phone or a PDA first, the Treo 600 manages to be 100% PDA and 100% Phone at the same time.

Moving beyond breaking the laws of statistics is the Treo worth the money? PDA wise the Treo 600 compares well with the Sony TG-50. The Treo has more memory and cheaper expansion, the TG-50 has a better screen and a slightly faster processor. Phone wise the Treo 600 compares well with the Sony-Ericsson T610. If you can get a contract for the Treo 600 that costs you less than these two devices then you are looking at good value. In the UK the Treo 600 can be found on the internet for as little as 99 with a 25 per month contract, which makes it the cheapest Palm OS 5 device presently available.

The Treo 600 is mature technology. Lessons have been learnt from previous Treo's and from other devices on the market. Handspring have worked hard and delivered the goods; let's hope that as part of PalmOne they continue that trend.
