Opening the printers box is like a treasure chest, theres so much stuff in it, and youll want to keep the box, as with its plastic handle and storage compartments, its like getting a free carrying case.
Youll find a quick start sheet and printed manual, two packs of ink, a CD with the driver and more manuals, image processing software, sample packs of photo paper, cables, AC adapter, and more. The computer-based driver is crammed with features, and a suite of custom software for photo manipulation and print control, such as Canon Easy-WebPrint, which installs as a toolbar in IE. Web pages are automatically formatted, so they'll print properly with full color and without trimming off the right-hand margin, the bane of most Web page printing.
The Easy-PhotoPrint program lets you manipulate pictures in a myriad of ways and produce 4 x 6, 5 x 7 and 8.5 x 11 in. borderless prints, with spectacular edge-to-edge quality and razor-sharp detail.
In under a minute you can print a 4" x 6" photo with the look and feel of a traditional photograph. Other features that help produce realistic digital images in Easy-PhotoPrint include Vivid Photo to print life-like vibrant colors and Photo Noise Reduction to decrease noise from digital images. New tools added to this version include Face Sharpening for out-of-focus face correction, Face Brightener to correct for less-than perfect lighting conditions, Red Eye Correction and Blemish Remover to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and skin imperfections. This isnt just PR hype; Im not a flack for Canon - these features really work and while Ive seen some absolutely horrible image processing programs, Easy-Photo Print is a terrific program thats actually easy to use, and prompts you step by step. Its fast and fun and logical. Someone at Canon was thinking.
My jaw hit the floor the first time I played with this software, fed in some Canon High Gloss photo paper, and did a photo print. It looked just as good as any print Ive ever gotten back from a store. Rich, vivid colors, not even the slightest color banding as with older printers, if home photo printing gets any better than this, I sure havent seen it.
