Overpriced at current quality level |
I've had several Nutshell products over the years and have been very happy with them. I still use some of them. Sometime between 2003 and 2007, Nutshell appears to have downgraded the leather quality from a saddle-grade leather to a thinner upholstery-grade leather. The leather on the new nutshells is noticeably thinner, has an unnatural looking coating and is very flexible (making it less protective).
It also appears that manufacturing has been moved from New Zealand to Singapore. For the record, when asked about this, Nutshell has denied it.
I was willing to pay more for the products that I previously received from Nutshell. However, the quality of the current nutshell is no better than cases I can find locally for under $30 (USD).
