trial scam 2...unable to cancel |
I tried to cancel after the 30 day trial period because I just did not like it compared to Tom Tom or Garmin, and despite telling me it was cancelled they just kept billing me. Total scam. First off, their CS number is not listed anywhere on their website. I am trying to cancel again when I saw their charges still showing up on my bank statement, but can't find the number anywhere. What a rip off.

TeleNav 30 Day Trial SCAM!!! |
Tried to cancel after a week into the 30 day trial and their customer service says they'll cancel, never follow-up, and charge your card anyway. Had to eventually sick the credit card company on them.
Tried this dog in DC, and by the time you reconnect to the service for updates you've missed your turn.

Great! Awesome! |
I am using TeleNav on the 30 day trial and it has been great so far. I will be signing up! I went through areas with poor cell service and the GPS map continued to work just fine. The call-in feature is less than perfect, like most voice recognition, but it finally got the job done for me. It really does seem to work like a full featured GPS unit. When you take into account the necessity to frequently update your local data in other GPS solutions, TeleNav seems like a bargain to me!

EXCELLENT!!!!! |
I have Tom Tom Navigator installed in my Treo 680 but decided to try TeleNav. Works great and no longer use Tom Tom. I really like the call in feature. Use it to load several addresses at the same time.

Too bad people can't read |
It's too bad some people can't read. TeleNav does not need a constant, persistant data connection to do its thing and the review explained exactly why. I've used it for months and it's a fantastic system with a tiny footprint and maps are updated more often than any other competing package and more often than Google, Yahoo, and MapQuest update their maps. There's no huge up-front investment and all you have to load onto the Treo is one small app. As far as the subscription fee you can bail out at any time. It helps to understand and actually use a product before you shred it

Glaring Flaw is need for Data Connection |
The glaring flaw for this system is the requirement that you have a data connection at all times. Anyone who travels any significant distance is going to hit pockets where there is no data connectivity for their device. The result, no map for the gps to use to navigate.
Further, Microsoft has free software (in beta) that does the same thing.

Product as subscription? No way! |
To use this, you need to subscribe to a service (for a fee) that you may or may not use a given number of times per month, and have a data plan that you may or may not need depending on your actual day-to-day needs. Plus, if you wind up somewhere with no cellular service, or at least not capable of feeding you data service, you've now lost your GPS mapping. Blech.
I'd rather spend a couple hundred dollars up front and have everything local.

Terrible Customer Service |
I could not get the voice prompts to work properly and customer service could never offer more than a scripted response. Even though I got the "new route" prompt, I was never able to get any more voice prompts. Eventually they told me to reinstall, which I did to no avail, after which I canceled. Oh well, back to my TomTom (where Burt Reynolds never fails to speak up!). I do look forward to future versions though and will likely try it again after they have some more experience on the Treo platform...

Simple and affordable |
I like the fact that i dont have to use my memory card for maps, etc.
Also there seem to be a lot more business listing than tomtom.
And how can you beat the $10 a month (I picked up a BT GPS for $40 from ebay)
