Has it been Ten Year... More on the legacy o... More on the legacy o... More on the legacy o... More on the legacy o... > Closing thoughts and...
Closing thoughts and notable quotes... Having said that all that, I couldn't help but spend an hour or so reading VisorCentral for nostalgia's sake. I just want to share some bits and pieces from those articles that I thought you might enjoy.
"I know that there is plenty of religious discussion on the pros and cons of an internal rechargeable battery, but I think it is the right thing to have in a color Visor."
"I was one of the people that said, 'I don't need color,' but consider me converted."
- James Hromadka, Review of the Visor Prism
Wow! Anyone want to trade their rechargeable lithium ion battery for a pair of AAA batteries in their smartphone? How about a monochrome screen? Good call James! History proved you to be a forward thinker.
"And the spin-off of PalmSource will help grow the Palm Economy, attract additional licensees and unlock shareholder value."
- Eric Benhamou, Palm, Inc. chairman and chief executive officer, and chairman of PalmSource on spinning the Palm OS development into its own separate company.
[Shaking my head] It didn't make sense to many of us back then and history proved us right. Just reading this convoluted statement reinforces that it was not well thought out. It also brings a few questions to mind.
1) What the heck is a, "Palm Economy"? Does it involve beaming Palm credits as memos through the IR port? Whatever it was, the Cobalt Stimulus Recovery Plan failed miserably to spark it.
2) Is there a bigger, more nondescript cliche in the corporate world than, "unlock shareholder value"? My Corporate Talk to English dictionary translates it as: "Bla, bla, bla." Seeing it on the end of the quote means it was just some ambiguous space filler added because the statement didn't sound strong enough on its own.
3) Where is Eric Benhamou these days anyway? I think I saw him at CES trying to convince some babes how cool Cobalt would've been.

Congrats again guys!! May the VisorCentral family tree continue to grow and prosper for another ten years!!
Special thanks to Bob for sharing his thoughts with all of us at TreoCentral!
