Trend: Mobile Email Usage Up
Late last week, comScore announced results from a study on U.S. consumers' evolving email behaviors. Mobile email usage is up:
>Thirty percent of U.S. wireless subscribers accessed email via mobile device in November 2010. That's an increase of 36 percent over the previous year.
> More than 70.1 million U.S. subscribers now access mobile email services, compared to 51.6 million a year ago.
> 43.5 million users rely on mobile email every day, a 40 percent year-over-year jump.
Also noted was the decline of web-based email, which makes sense. comScore noted that "email remains one of the most popular activities on the web, reaching more than 70 percent of the U.S online population each month."
