Emergency Power Kit

Fri Jun 7, 2002 - 3:19 PM EDT - By Kenneth Crandall

Usability

The Emergency charger is very easy to use. If you want to charge your Treo using a 9V battery, simply plug the Treo into the unit and plug a battery into the other end.

Using a slightly used 9V battery, it took about 2 hours to charge a completely drained Treo to 61%. It seemed to hover around there, and upon further inspection of the 9V battery it had drained to little over six 6 volts.

If you want to charge using your cigarette lighter, just plug it into the unit and charge away. You can use the Treo while you are charging with either method with no problem. Seidio has also included special circuitry into the device to protect the Treo, or whatever you are charging, from short-circuiting and overcharging.

The entire Emergency Power Kit retails for $24.95 which includes everything mentioned above. This is a great price! Handspring sells the Car Charger for $29.99, but with Seidio you get that plus the Emergency 9V Battery Charger. This package is also available without the cigarette adapter for $19.95. However, if you ask me, getting the cigarette adapter for only five dollars more is a steal! Also, the various connectors (Treo connector is included in purchase) are $10.95 each for every extra device.
