Let me just tell you that this is just about the neatest thing since sliced bread. It's a simple thing, and of course I shouldn't be amazed that it's possible. But as an old-school computing guy, I'm continually amazed at what I can do with a device that fits in my pocket. Before I tell you about PalmVNC, let's talk about some background information.
VNC stands for Virtual Network Computing. It is a remote display system which allows you to view a computing 'desktop' environment not only on the machine where it is running, but from anywhere on the Internet and from a wide variety of machine architectures. Some people say it's like XWindows, sometimes they say it's like PCAnywhere. It's kind of like both.

no crypto, though |
great product, but it doesn't do crypto over the connection, so if you're a UNIX user, and su to something, suddenly, root is getting transmitted in clear text. This may be fixed by now, but this was current as of about four months ago. Just something to think about.

Cool for palm but the Java Client is nice |
Cool for the Visor but the other features of VNC make it a great replacment for PCAnywhere. Load this up on your PC/MAC/Unix and use your web browser to control your machine. Very cool!

I use PalmVNC. |
It works great! Now I can remote into a Server/PC and fix a problem while I am at a dinner party and not have to leave and go home to dial up with PC Anywhere.
greatest thing is it is FREE!

Pure..silver, not gold |
Love this thing. Use it with my YadaYada service all the time. Great for checking systems from the subway on the way home. Great for setting stuff to download at home :) Still slow, but meh, 19.2kps (if I'm lucky) Scrolling is a pain too.

Great demo app! |
I use PalmVNC with my Visor Prism and VisorPhone.
It is a great way to impress friends with the
capabilities of visor/palmOS, but as the review
mentions, it's a tad too slow for regular use.

Worth the download |
For the DSL and cable users... it is the mandatory "pcAnywhere" for palm.
